This follows up the well-received first volume “bad” monster jokes. Monstermatt’s Vad Monster Jokes Vol.1 collected over 400 gags, puns, and rhymes. Vol.1 showcased monsters, horror films and all sorts of characters and creeps from across the horror genre. Vol.2 will have nearly 500 jokes, picking up where Vol.1 left off, to simultaneously lampoon and honor the obscure and profound elements of the weird world of monsters.

Vol.1 continues to receive great reviews from all over the globe. Vol.1 poked fun at independent films like Basket CaseThe ManitouThe Human Centipede and Tromafilms, while also joking on the classicUniversal Monsters and movies.

What can readers expect from the follow up? Vol.2 keeps that theme alive, taking aim at the Killer Klowns From Outer Space,Faces of DeathTrog and many more! Once again, using a formula of rhymes, song parody lyrics, puns and zingers, coupled with insightful and humorous illustrations, the duo of Kaczmarczyk and Patterson hope to keep you grinning, groaning and laughing!

We've gotten many emails about people getting into horror and or further into it, all because of the jokes and illustrations. There is something for nearly everyone!”

The Zed Word Talks Shock Stock 2012 with Jake W. Grimbro

This weekend, Horror in the Hammer will be attending SHOCK STOCK 2012, which runs April 13-15 in London, ON.

For the uninitiated, Shock Stock is a subculture weekend celebrating horror, exploitation movies, obscure and cult films, VHS movies, 35mm and 16mm film, and everything else that's greasy, cheesy, and sleazy. Shock Stock launched to great fan reaction last year, and not it's back for a bigger and badder sequel.

The Zed Word - Zombie Blog recently interviewed Jake W. Grimbro, one of the organizers of SHOCK STOCK 2012, to talk about the origins of the show and what fans can expect this year. Here are excerpts from The Zed Word interview
ZED WORD: What is your inspiration for starting Shock Stock and bringing it back for a second year?

JAKE W. GRIMBRO: Shock Stock was not so much "inspired" as it was "demanded"... James [Bialkowski] and I used to work at another Canadian 'fan show' and we'd bring our Vagrant sensibilities with us ( at Vagrancy Films screenings here in London we encourage sociability and fun in a movie theatre... no strangers, no holds barred, no refunds!). We firmly believe that a convention, no matter what the size or scope, should be fan-driven. No corporate step ins, no douchebaggery, and no compromises.

We'd get flack from the management of the other shows for our abrasive nature and carnival barking ( kick the burger started at Vagrancy Films' booth at Fanexpo ) but the attendees ( and a majority of the vendors ) seemed to like being treated as equals.

It was a spark that ignited into a bonfire thanks to Ultimate Bob who helped us fund last years Shock Stock. Last year was exactly what we wanted aesthetically: a fan-oriented show that created a community within its four walls. It wasn't about lineups, headaches ( I had my share actually), or overpriced photo ops. People got to meet the celebrities, some even got to shoot darts with Linnea Quigley or have drinks with Molly Dunsworth from Hobo With a Shotgun. It's great!

After it was all over, we rethought the whole thing. We all took a loss... but the response was INSANE!! People had the time of their lives! So we had to pony up more cake and lace up for round two.

ZW: Any big changes or surprises in store for this year's show?

JWG: Well we're pleased to have Toronto's TRASH PALACE bringing more 16mm content than you can shake a stick at... so much that we've added a second screening room on site!

Also there's a mega upgrade to the guest list... which is a bonus for Euro fans as we've got DEMONS alumni Geretta Geretta and Bobby Rhodes coming across the big drink, as well as LEGENDARY Goblin frontman Claudio Simonetti who was responsible for some of the greatest horror soundtracks of all time ( including Romero's DAWN )

And as for surprises... if I told you, they wouldn't be surprises anymore.

ZW: Bottom-line: There are many horror cons out there. Why should people drop everything and run - not walk - to Shock Stock in April.

JWG: Weekend pass holders get in to the show all 3 days, but they also have access to all the off site events - including an uncut 35mm screening of DEMONS on Friday and our Saturday night concert - absolutely free!

The Concert on Saturday will have Claudio and fellow Goblin bandmate Maurizio Guarini performing all your favorite horror themes live in a concert event that may never be seen again on North American soil, and our sexy guest, porn star Joanna Angel, will be doing a special "Zombi Strip Tease" on the stage as well... its going to be the show they all talk about, that's for sure..

Speaking of Joanna Angel ... the Burning Angel founder and punk porn queen will stand at the top of a veritable mountain of pie. That's right, all you horny guys out there, the place is gonna be packed with chicks. Jager girls, sin girls, Rocco's girls... they're all there to party in style. Woe! I'm gettin' excited already!

Screamwave Episode #41: The Human Centipede 1 & 2

FEED HER! FEED HER!

For this first full episode of Screamwave in a long time, we delve into the depths of depravity with an ass-to-mouth discussion of Tom Six's The Human Centipede (First Sequence) and The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence). It's a gag-worthy, round-table Horror in the Hammer discussion.

Also this episode, we re-air our Fright Night Theatre Q & A with the cast and crew of The Collapsed, an independent Canadian horror film that will be coming to DVD in June from Anchor Bay.

Then, in their yet-to-be-named segment, No Klass Kris and Monster Matt Patterson run afoul of the law when a police officer interrupts their nostalgic discussion of horror conventions and pro wrestling. Such rebels!

Finally, in our feedback section, we take your answers for our Human Centipede Listener Question.

Stay tuned next week for a new mini-episode where we'll announce our next movie discussion topic and our next listener feedback question.

Shock Stock -- Awesome Video Promo Round Up

Shock Stock (April 13-15) -- the horror and exploitation convention set to tear London, Ontario a new one -- might just have some of the greatest convention promo videos ever made.

Embracing the lo-fi imperfections of VHS, the degradation of 16mm and 35mm film reels, and the cheesy and sleazy backroom feel of bootleg movie trades, Shock Stock's latest selection of promo videos give you a pretty good taste of the convention's home-grown, retro, and anti-social way of doing things.

Screamwave Podcast Relaunches with Mini-Episode

SCREAMWAVE IS BACK!

The band is back together and better than ever.

Co-host Aaron Allen has rejoined No Klass Kris and the rest of the Screamwave team to relaunch the Horror in the Hammer podcast as a broader, better, more genuine genre podcast about sci-fi, cult films, exploitation movies, and - of course - horror!

Brand new, full episodes of Screamwave will air every second week of the month. Between full episodes, you can download mini-episodes that will preview our topics and movies-for-discussion so you have time to prepare and participate in the show by calling in to our voicemail line or sending us an email.

In episode #41 (coming April 9th, 2012), we will be discussing Tom Six's gruesome twosome of gross-out body horror films: THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE and THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE 2. We will also be re-airing our Q and A with the cast and crew of THE COLLAPSED, which is coming out on DVD in June from Anchor Bay.

LISTENER QUESTION: If you were to create a real-life Human Centipede by stitching three celebrities ass-to-mouth, who would you choose? And who would be the front, middle, and end segment?

Have your answer appear on the show. Email or call us before April 5th. We want to hear from you!
