Growing up this was always one of my favorite films, it has everything one could want in a horror flick gore, nudity, campy humor, and enough one liners and quote worthy scenes you could dedicate an entire book to the topic. "Night of the Creeps" is a prime example of the saying "they just don't make them like they use to" as old as that makes me feel it's very true and a perfect way to describe "Night of the Creeps" to anyone who has yet to experience this fantastic piece of 80s cinema.
I remember the first time I saw "Night of the Creeps" it was discovered during one of the many weekends filled with 99 cent movie rentals from various no name mom and pop video chains that once covered small towns across America. The cover is what first drew my attention to what would become a very important part of my personal horror history. A truly unique sounding take on zombies that looked to be filled to the brim with good old fashion splatter how could I possibly say no to such a film, in my plastic bag of terrors it went to later be viewed in my pitch black room with high hopes of horror bliss.
"Night of the Creeps" is one of the most quotable horror films to ever be created scene after scene you'll find a one liner or just a random quirky remark that will stick with you for the rest of your life. Some of my favorite "Night of the Creeps" quotes are as follows.
"Night of the Creeps" is the perfect blend of humor and gore and should be a must view for any writer or director wanting to see how a horror comedy is done correctly. Unlike many of the horror comedy's of our generation you'll find "Night of the Creeps" manages to both be funny and at the same time not lose its horror cred by maintaining a grisly storyline filled with some great displays of 80s splatter FX.
The special effects are stunning in this film, a brilliant visual wikipedia of sorts for what made the 80s such a fun and inspiring era for special FX artists. So many memorable scenes in this movie for all the gore hounds out there who want a quick fix of blood spray and exploding heads.
On behalf of The Liberal Dead I give "Night of the Creeps" a 10 out of 10 and award for movie I can always turn to when I need reminding of why I do what I do.
10/10
